Let's start by talking about one of the reasons for creating this website – the search for Italian citizenship.
Amidst many searches and countless failures, I decided to try this process again, but with a different perspective, that of learning about my family ancestry, and that's when the magic happened.
After two years of sorting through documents and calling many registry offices looking for certificates, I was still missing the birth and marriage certificate of my great-grandfather, who was born in Italy.
And to help, one of my sisters had lost contact with a cousin who years ago was also trying to gather documents. The only way, before thinking about hiring a lawyer, was to go after him in the hope of finding the missing certificates.
After several attempts to locate him, I got a phone number and immediately called, but my number was from São Paulo and he lived in the interior of Paraná.
Of course, he didn't answer, because he didn't know the number, didn't know anyone from São Paulo and probably thought it was someone calling from prison to scam me, lol. Anyone who is Brazilian knows what I'm talking about.
The way to put an end to the mistrust was to send a message via WhatsApp, introducing myself and explaining the reason for the contact, which worked and then I was able to make the call, certain that I would be answered.
He had the birth certificate of his Italian great-grandfather.
What happiness! My heart burst with joy.
He was also already in line at the consulate, he had a lawyer and from there the path became easier.
The marriage certificate was obtained through the courts, since the registry office did not have the record of the wedding held in the church.
And with all the documents in hand, prepared by the lawyer Dr. Márcia Scarpato, the next step would be taken by the Rosso Passaporto team.
And do you also have Italian ancestry?
If you want to know more about this journey, continue here.
See you next time!
